Mitchell Falls Refurbishment

Newly Refurbished Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge

June 17 2024

APT Travel Group is thrilled to announce the newly renovated Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge is now open, and more spectacular than ever following extensive refurbishments. Conveniently located close to Mitchells Falls, this lodge offers a unique outback experience, featuring a stunning swimming deck, gourmet dining, and exceptional new accommodations.

Rob McGeary, APT's co-owner, recently visited the lodge and couldn't be more enthusiastic about the improvements.

"Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge has truly exceeded my expectations," said McGeary. "The happiness and satisfaction of our guests were evident, as I encountered several tour groups, all having an absolutely wonderful time."

The extensive refurbishment included significant infrastructure upgrades, including the addition of brand-new cabins and swimming platform. The lodge now features 24 spacious and thoughtfully designed ensuite tented cabins, each equipped with timber floor showers, comfortable beds, and private decks that provide breathtaking landscape views. A newly upgraded private waterhole also allows guests to cool off with a swim after a fulfilling day exploring the stunning Mitchell Plateau. The all-new timber swimming platform and deck provide easy access to the palm-fringed oasis. Another exciting addition to the lodge is Starlink wi-fi, keeping guests connected even in one of the most remote regions of the Kimberley.

These upgrades align with the high standards set by Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge, renovated in 2021, and Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge, creating a network of three exceptional lodges in the Kimberley, exclusive to APT. In addition to the new tented cabins, Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge features the Ungolan Pavilion, which blends modern Australian style with local craftsmanship and Aboriginal influences, offering fine dining, a bar, and a library.

McGeary commended the exceptional staff for their attentiveness and positive demeanour, noting their critical role in delivering outstanding experiences. "After the challenges of the past couple of years, it's a credit to our Broome Operations team to see such cohesive, energised, and positive staff. Their dedication is reflected in every aspect of the lodge's presentation," he added.

The lodge's meticulous care was apparent, from the pristine timber deck to the gourmet meals. "The food was amazing—five-star city quality in an outback bush setting. The chefs went to great lengths to use only high-quality ingredients, making every meal a delight," McGeary shared.

In addition to front-of-house enhancements, significant investments in back-of-house infrastructure have been made. "We've upgraded the electrical systems at Mitchell Falls, ensuring reliable and environmentally sensitive power for years to come," said McGeary. "This includes a massive solar array and commercial-grade battery systems, underscoring our commitment to sustainability."

Reflecting on his visit, McGeary expressed pride in the product APT is delivering. "I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved. The feedback from guests has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising our guides, the new lodges, and the overall experience. It's a testament to the passion and hard work of everyone involved."

APT has been guiding tours through the Australian Outback for over 60 years, creating unforgettable experiences for travellers. The Kimberley holds a special place in the hearts of the McGeary family, with deep personal and professional connections to the region. "The Kimberley is a passion project for our family. We've been dedicated to offering this extraordinary destination to our guests for nearly 30 years, and I'm confident we provide the best lodges in the Kimberley," McGeary concluded.
